What should be checked before selecting components
A drip system is not only a collection of pipes. Uniform delivery depends on the relationship between source, pressure, elevation, field layout, crop spacing, filtration and maintenance.
Field elevation
Slope changes pressure, so zoning, pressure management and pipe sizing should be checked before emitters are selected.
Crop & spacing
Crop layout determines lateral spacing, emitter position, operating zones and possible fertigation requirements.
Water quality
Suspended solids and other water-quality issues influence filter selection and maintenance frequency.
Flow & pressure
The available flow, pumping head and line length need to match the selected network and emitters.
Maintenance
Flushing, filter cleaning, valve access and seasonal shutdown should be planned into the system rather than added later.
